ECDIS Approval

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation had certified "SKIPER-M" system as being fully compliant with IMO and IEC requirements to the Electronic Chart and Display System (ECDIS). The hardware/software complex was granted both Type Approval Certificate and Ship's Equipment Approval.

ARCADIA SHIP MANAGEMENT installs dKart Navigator

Genova,Italy, 16 August 2003 a dKart 6.32 Navigator System was installed on M/T AEGEAN EAGLE, a ship managed and owned by ARCADIA SHIP MANAGEMENT.

Retired Admiral of the Hellenic Navy P. Loumakis, who is the Deputy Manager of ARCADIA SHIP MANAGEMENT and the Manager of AEGEAN BULK, said that the dKart Navigator was selected after a detailed market research, which showed that the system is highly reliable, cost effective and user-friendly. This is a second system that has been installed on our vessels. The first was installed on M/T MARATHA for trials and as the results were very positive we decided to install the same system together with C-MAP charts on five more NBs vessels of our company."

The ship’s Officers were very impressed with the performance of the system and C-MAP charts, Captain John Vlachakis said: "The dKart Navigator System is a very useful tool for any vessel. It is an additional aid for the safety of navigation, very easy to operate and the functionality is a bonus. I am also very impressed with C-MAP charts, particularly with the world-wide coverage and the real time updating service of the charts via the Internet free of charge to all subscribers. Italian Navy Uses dKart Navigator to read C-MAP’s CM-93® Electronic Charts

Last year the Italian Navy has chosen to sail with C-MAP’s professional electronic chart database, CM-93® Edition3. 75 installations have been completed hitherto, both onboard vessels and at military bases.

The Italian Navy decided to use the CM-93/3 electronic chart database after a comprehensive evaluation of all commercial and military electronic chart databases available. The deciding factors in this decision were superior worldwide coverage and the ability to download Notice to Mariner Corrections on a daily basis online from C-MAP’s server.

C-MAP's CM-93/3 electronic charts are distributed in a highly compressed format requiring only one CD for the entire world. This CD includes over 20,000 electronic charts for all ports, harbors and coastal areas. C-MAP designed CM-93/3 to be fully compliant with S-57 Edition 3.0, the international standard issued by the International Hydrographic Office (IHO). CM-93/3 is read directly by C-MAP compatible ECDIS, thus saving time and avoiding potential errors associated with onboard chart compilation of S-57 electronic charts.

The Italian Navy is reading CM-93/3 electronic charts using dKart Navigator, the powerful navigation software designed and distributed by Morintech Navigation. The Italian Navy has in fact been using dKart Navigator since 1999. According to Cdr. Massimiliano Nannini, Chief of the Electronic Cartography Division at the Italian HO, "dKart Navigator is one of the best software available in this field. It is user friendly, easy to install and fully compatible with one of the most famous cartographic databases in the world - CM93/3".
